Rectangular frames are the dependable all-rounders of eyewear. The EMP7585 is a unisex full-rim metal rectangular frame, sized 53-18-140, in Gun Metal. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. You will find it in our Rimless range.

Design details

Rectangular lenses suit round and oval faces, adding a bit of definition. With no rim around the lenses, the frame almost disappears on the face.

Metal lets the frame stay slim and light while keeping its shape.

How it fits

The 53mm lenses make this a medium frame that suits most faces. The 18mm bridge is average. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 124mm.

The easiest way to check is against glasses you already love. Most frames show their size inside the arm; if yours are close to these, you are in safe territory.

Lens options for the EMP7585

Your optician’s prescription will usually tell you which of these you need:

• Varifocals if you want to see near and far without swapping glasses.
• Single vision for one task done well, such as driving, reading or screen work.
• Bifocals if you prefer a clearly defined reading area.
• Ready readers for straightforward close-up help.

The 32mm lens depth is on the slim side, so single vision or bifocal lenses usually work best. Want lighter lenses? A high-index lens is thinner than standard plastic. Pair it with an anti-reflective coating for less glare when you drive after dark.

What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

A little care goes a long way

What does rimless mean?

There is no frame around the lenses. They are held by the bridge and arms only, which makes the glasses very light.

Who glazes my lenses?

Our own optical lab in the UK. Your lenses are made to your prescription and fitted into the frame before your glasses are sent to you.
