Size and fit

At 57mm per lens, it is a generous size, a good pick if standard frames feel tight. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 145mm arms are on the longer side, which suits larger heads. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 130mm.

To check the fit, look at the three numbers printed inside the arm of glasses you already own. If they are within two or three millimetres, this frame should feel similar.

Prescription lenses for the Ferucci Solaire 585

The Ferucci Solaire 585 can be made with any of these lens types:

• Single vision: the same prescription from edge to edge.
• Bifocal: distance at the top and a reading segment at the bottom.
• Varifocal: a smooth change from distance to reading, with no line.
• Ready readers: a fixed magnification for books, phones and screens.

At 43mm, the lens depth is deeper than most frames in our range, so varifocal lenses have lots of room. With a stronger prescription, a thinner high-index lens keeps the edges slim, and an anti-reflective coating cuts reflections from screens and street lights.

What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

How your glasses are made

Your Ferucci Solaire 585 is glazed in our UK-based lab. Once you have chosen your lenses and entered your prescription, we cut and fit the lenses and check the finished glasses before they go out.

Looking after them

Clean your lenses with a microfibre cloth rather than your jumper, keep them in their case when they are in your bag, and do not leave them on a sunny car dashboard. Our lens care guide has more tips.
