Freya Donna Prescription Glasses

Cat-eye frames manage to look glamorous and practical at the same time. The Freya Donna is a unisex full-rim metal cat-eye frame, sized 53-16-140, in Brown, Burgundy or Grey. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. It belongs to the Freya by Dunelm Collection.

Choosing your Freya Donna colour

Brown. The Brown version is olive brown. It flatters warm and olive skin and works with almost any outfit.

Burgundy. Burgundy is a deep wine red. It is a grown-up way to wear colour.

Grey. Grey is a soft, neutral grey. It is cool, modern and understated, and it suits grey or silver hair especially well.

If you are stuck between two, choose the one closest to the colours you wear most. You can always add a second pair later.

About the Freya Donna design

The upswept outer corners suit round, oval and square faces especially well, giving the face a gentle lift. The fine metal arms keep the weight down and look neat from the side.

The slim metal construction keeps it light and neat, and it is easy for an optician to adjust.

The Freya Donna is a great everyday frame: smart enough for work and relaxed enough for the weekend.

How to wear it

Keep the rest of your look simple and let the frame do the talking. It works just as well with workwear as it does with weekend clothes.

Size and fit

The 53mm lenses make this a medium frame that suits most faces. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 122mm.

To check the fit, look at the three numbers printed inside the arm of glasses you already own. If they are within two or three millimetres, this frame should feel similar.

Lens options for the Freya Donna

Choose the lens type that suits how you use your glasses:

• Single vision: the same prescription from edge to edge.
• Bifocal: distance at the top and a reading segment at the bottom.
• Varifocal: a smooth change from distance to reading, with no line.
• Ready readers: a fixed magnification for books, phones and screens.

The 40mm lens depth gives varifocal lenses plenty of room. If your prescription is high, a high-index lens keeps things thin. An anti-reflective, scratch-resistant coating is a sensible extra for everyday wear.

What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

Your Freya Donna is glazed in our UK-based lab. Once you have chosen your lenses and entered your prescription, we cut and fit the lenses and check the finished glasses before they go out.

Looking after them

Rinse off any grit before you wipe, dry the lenses with a clean microfibre cloth, and take your glasses off with both hands so the arms stay aligned. See our lens care guide for more.

Can I get varifocal lenses in the Freya Donna?

Yes. The 40mm lens depth gives varifocal lenses enough height for all three vision zones.

Is the Freya Donna comfortable for all-day wear?

Yes. It is a lightweight frame, and a thinner lens for a stronger prescription keeps the weight down even further.

What size is it?

It is size 53-16-140: 53mm lens width, 16mm bridge and 140mm arms, a medium fit.

Will it suit a narrow nose?

Yes. The 16mm bridge is designed for slimmer noses.

Do you make the lenses yourselves?

Yes. Every pair is made to order in our UK optical lab, where your lenses are cut to your prescription and fitted into your frame.
