Brunel Prescription Glasses

A clean rectangular frame works at the office, at home and everywhere in between. The Brunel is a men’s full-rim rectangular frame, sized 54-16-140, in Black, Blue or Grey. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. It belongs to the Walter & Herbert collection.

Choosing your Brunel colour

Black. Black is a deep, solid black. It is the safest choice if you only want one pair, and it never looks out of place.

Blue. The Blue version is navy. It brings a cool, calm touch of colour that suits most skin tones.

Grey. In Grey, the frame is translucent grey. It is cool, modern and understated, and it suits grey or silver hair especially well.

Still torn? Think about what you wear on an ordinary weekday, not on a night out. That is the colour you will be happiest with.

Shape and style

Rectangular lenses suit round and oval faces, adding a bit of definition. The translucent finish lets light through, so the frame looks lighter and softer than a solid colour.

Tortoiseshell arms add warmth and a classic finishing touch.

Styling tips

Short hair and a clean shave make the frame shape stand out; with longer hair or a beard it reads as more relaxed.

Size and fit

The 54mm lenses put it at the upper end of medium. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 124mm.

To check the fit, look at the three numbers printed inside the arm of glasses you already own. If they are within two or three millimetres, this frame should feel similar.

Lens options for the Brunel

Choose the lens type that suits how you use your glasses:

• Single vision: the same prescription from edge to edge.
• Bifocal: distance at the top and a reading segment at the bottom.
• Varifocal: a smooth change from distance to reading, with no line.
• Ready readers: a fixed magnification for books, phones and screens.

Want lighter lenses? A high-index lens is thinner than standard plastic. Pair it with an anti-reflective coating for less glare when you drive after dark.

Before you order

Make sure your prescription is in date; most adults in the UK are advised to have an eye test every two years, and your optician will tell you if you need one sooner. You will also need your PD, which tells our lab where to centre the lenses. With those two things ready, ordering takes a few minutes: choose your colour, pick your lenses, enter your details and you are done.

From our lab to you

Every pair is made to order in our own UK lab. Your lenses are cut to your prescription, fitted into your Brunel and checked by our technicians before they are sent out.

Looking after them

Clean your lenses with a microfibre cloth rather than your jumper, keep them in their case when they are in your bag, and do not leave them on a sunny car dashboard. Our lens care guide has more tips.
