Rutherford Prescription Glasses

A cat-eye is one of the most flattering shapes you can wear. The Rutherford is a women’s full-rim cat-eye frame, sized 53-18-140, in Black, Crystal or Red. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. You will find it in our Walter & Herbert range.

Choosing your Rutherford colour

Black. Black is a deep, solid black. It looks sharp at work and just as good with jeans at the weekend.

Crystal. Crystal is a clear, see-through finish. It keeps the look soft and understated, and it works especially well on fair skin.

Red. Red is a confident red. It looks great with neutral outfits and a bold lip.

If you are stuck between two, choose the one closest to the colours you wear most. You can always add a second pair later.

Shape and style

The upswept outer corners suit round, oval and square faces especially well, giving the face a gentle lift. A crystal front looks modern and light, and it goes with everything.

Slim metal arms keep the frame light and add a polished touch.

Size and fit

At 53mm per lens, it sits in the medium range, the most common adult fit. The 18mm bridge is average. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 124mm.

Not sure about sizing? Compare these numbers with the ones on the inside arm of a pair that fits you well. A difference of two or three millimetres or less usually means a similar fit.

You need a valid prescription from your optician and your pupillary distance (PD), the distance between your pupils. Many opticians include your PD on the prescription; if yours does not, just ask for it. Choose your colour, pick your lens type, enter your details and add any lens upgrades. If you are unsure about size, compare the measurements above with a pair you already wear.

Every pair is made to order in our own UK lab. Your lenses are cut to your prescription, fitted into your Rutherford and checked by our technicians before they are sent out.

A little care goes a long way
