Freya Bonnie Prescription Glasses

If you want a frame with a bit of attitude, start with a cat-eye. The Freya Bonnie is a unisex full-rim cat-eye frame, sized 55-18-140, in Blue, Brown or Burgundy. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. It belongs to the Freya by Dunelm Collection.

Choosing your Freya Bonnie colour

Blue. In Blue, the frame is blue tortoiseshell. It reads as smart and dark from a distance, with a little more personality up close.

Brown. Brown is a warm, earthy brown. It is softer than black and suits brown, auburn and red hair.

Burgundy. Burgundy is a deep wine red. It is a grown-up way to wear colour.

If you are stuck between two, choose the one closest to the colours you wear most. You can always add a second pair later.

About the Freya Bonnie design

The upswept outer corners suit round, oval and square faces especially well, giving the face a gentle lift.

Size and fit

At 55mm per lens, it is a generous size, a good pick if standard frames feel tight. The 18mm bridge is average. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 128mm.

To check the fit, look at the three numbers printed inside the arm of glasses you already own. If they are within two or three millimetres, this frame should feel similar.

Lens options for the Freya Bonnie

Your optician’s prescription will usually tell you which of these you need:

• Single vision: the same prescription from edge to edge.
• Bifocal: distance at the top and a reading segment at the bottom.
• Varifocal: a smooth change from distance to reading, with no line.
• Ready readers: a fixed magnification for books, phones and screens.

The 37mm lens depth works with single vision, bifocal and many varifocal lenses. With a stronger prescription, a thinner high-index lens keeps the edges slim, and an anti-reflective coating cuts reflections from screens and street lights.

What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

From our lab to you

Your Freya Bonnie is glazed in our UK-based lab. Once you have chosen your lenses and entered your prescription, we cut and fit the lenses and check the finished glasses before they go out.

Keep them looking new

Use lens spray and a soft cloth, fold the arms before putting your glasses down, and store them in a hard case. Our guide to looking after your lenses covers the rest.

Can I get varifocal lenses in the Freya Bonnie?

Yes. The 37mm lens depth gives varifocal lenses enough height for all three vision zones.

Can I wear the Freya Bonnie for driving?

Yes. Single vision or varifocal lenses work well for driving, and an anti-reflective coating helps cut glare from headlights at night.

Is it a large frame?

Yes. With 55mm lenses it suits wider faces.

Do you make the lenses yourselves?

Yes. Every pair is made to order in our UK optical lab, where your lenses are cut to your prescription and fitted into your frame.
