Ascari Eyewear 047 Prescription Glasses

Not quite round, not quite square, and that is exactly why this shape works on so many faces. The Ascari Eyewear 047 is a unisex full-rim rounded square frame, sized 54-16-135, in Brown Mottle or Burgundy. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. You will find it in our Ascari Eyewear Collection.

Brown Mottle or Burgundy?

Brown Mottle. The Brown Mottle version is mottled brown tortoiseshell. It warms up the face and sits nicely alongside camel, olive and cream.

Burgundy. Burgundy is a deep wine red. It adds warmth without being too bright, and it suits most skin tones.

If you are stuck between two, choose the one closest to the colours you wear most. You can always add a second pair later.

The details

The rounded corners and straight lines balance most face shapes, especially oval, square and heart-shaped faces. The mottled pattern has more depth than a flat colour, so the frame looks rich up close.

How to wear it

Keep the rest of your look simple and let the frame do the talking. It works just as well with workwear as it does with weekend clothes.

How it fits

The 54mm lenses put it at the upper end of medium. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 135mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 124mm.

The easiest way to check is against glasses you already love. Most frames show their size inside the arm; if yours are close to these, you are in safe territory.

Lens options for the Ascari Eyewear 047

Choose the lens type that suits how you use your glasses:

• Single vision: one prescription across the whole lens, for distance, reading or the computer.
• Varifocal: near, intermediate and distance in one lens, with no visible line.
• Bifocal: a separate reading segment in the lower part of the lens.
• Ready readers: simple magnification if you just need help with close work.

At 42mm, the lens depth is deeper than most frames in our range, so varifocal lenses have lots of room. If your prescription is high, a high-index lens keeps things thin. What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

Keep them looking new

Yes. Single vision or varifocal lenses work well for driving, and an anti-reflective coating helps cut glare from headlights at night.
