Ferucci 491 Prescription Glasses

Upswept corners have a way of lifting the whole face. The Ferucci 491 is a women’s full-rim plastic cat-eye frame, sized 53-16-135, in Black or Havana. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. You will find it in our Ferucci range.

Black or Havana: which one is you?

Black. Black is a deep, solid black. It defines the eyes and goes with every outfit you own.

Havana. The Havana version is tortoiseshell. It warms up the face and sits nicely alongside camel, olive and cream.

If you are stuck between two, choose the one closest to the colours you wear most. You can always add a second pair later.

Shape and style

The upswept outer corners suit round, oval and square faces especially well, giving the face a gentle lift. The plastic frame is light on the nose and comfortable for all-day wear.

Whether it is your main pair or a spare, the Ferucci 491 is easy to live with.

How to wear it

Match the frame colour to something you wear often, such as a favourite scarf or bag, for a pulled-together look. Neutral make-up keeps the focus on your eyes.

Frame size and fit

At 53mm per lens, it sits in the medium range, the most common adult fit. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 135mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 122mm.

To check the fit, look at the three numbers printed inside the arm of glasses you already own. If they are within two or three millimetres, this frame should feel similar.

Lens options for the Ferucci 491

Choose the lens type that suits how you use your glasses:

• Varifocals if you want to see near and far without swapping glasses.
• Single vision for one task done well, such as driving, reading or screen work.
• Bifocals if you prefer a clearly defined reading area.
• Ready readers for straightforward close-up help.

The 39mm lens depth gives varifocal lenses plenty of room. With a stronger prescription, a thinner high-index lens keeps the edges slim, and an anti-reflective coating cuts reflections from screens and street lights. Spend a lot of time on screens? Ordering online is simple

You need a valid prescription from your optician and your pupillary distance (PD), the distance between your pupils. Many opticians include your PD on the prescription; if yours does not, just ask for it. Choose your colour, pick your lens type, enter your details and add any lens upgrades. If you are unsure about size, compare the measurements above with a pair you already wear.

How your glasses are made

Every pair is made to order in our own UK lab. Your lenses are cut to your prescription, fitted into your Ferucci 491 and checked by our technicians before they are sent out.

Keep them looking new

Clean your lenses with a microfibre cloth rather than your jumper, keep them in their case when they are in your bag, and do not leave them on a sunny car dashboard. Our lens care guide has more tips.

Can I get varifocal lenses in the Ferucci 491?

Yes. The 39mm lens depth gives varifocal lenses enough height for all three vision zones.

Is the Ferucci 491 comfortable for all-day wear?

Yes. It is a lightweight frame, and a thinner lens for a stronger prescription keeps the weight down even further.

What size is it?

It is size 53-16-135: 53mm lens width, 16mm bridge and 135mm arms, a medium fit.

Will it suit a narrow nose?

Yes. The 16mm bridge is designed for slimmer noses.

What is havana or tortoiseshell?
