Bronte Prescription Glasses

Rectangular frames are the dependable all-rounders of eyewear. The Bronte is a women’s full-rim rectangular frame, sized 51-18-135, in Black & Tort, Brown Tort or Purple Tort. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. It belongs to the Walter & Herbert range.

Choosing your Bronte colour

Black & Tort. Black & Tort mixes black and tort. It is the safest choice if you only want one pair, and it never looks out of place.

Brown Tort. Brown Tort is a warm brown tortoiseshell. It is a classic that looks relaxed and a little bit vintage.

Purple Tort. The Purple Tort version is purple tortoiseshell. It warms up the face and sits nicely alongside camel, olive and cream.

The 51mm lenses make this a medium frame that suits most faces. The 18mm bridge is average. The 135mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 120mm.

Not sure about sizing? Compare these numbers with the ones on the inside arm of a pair that fits you well. A difference of two or three millimetres or less usually means a similar fit.

Your optician’s prescription will usually tell you which of these you need:

• Single vision: one prescription across the whole lens, for distance, reading or the computer.
• Varifocal: near, intermediate and distance in one lens, with no visible line.
• Bifocal: a separate reading segment in the lower part of the lens.
• Ready readers: simple magnification if you just need help with close work.

Want lighter lenses? A high-index lens is thinner than standard plastic. Pair it with an anti-reflective coating for less glare when you drive after dark.
