Bell Prescription Glasses

If you like structure but not sharp angles, a soft square is the sweet spot. The Bell is a women’s full-rim soft square frame, sized 49-16-140, in Black, Red or Tort. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. You will find it in our Walter & Herbert collection.

Which colour is you?

Black. Black is a deep, solid black. Black suits every hair colour and frames the face with confidence.

Red. Red is a confident red. It is a grown-up way to wear colour.

Tort. The Tort version is amber tortoiseshell. It warms up the face and sits nicely alongside camel, olive and cream.

The details

The softened corners suit round, oval and heart-shaped faces, adding a little shape without looking severe. The tortoiseshell arms pair nicely with the front and give the frame a relaxed feel.

Slim metal arms keep the frame light and add a polished touch.

The Bell is a great everyday frame: smart enough for work and relaxed enough for the weekend.

Wearing it every day

For work, pair it with a crisp shirt or blazer. At the weekend it looks just as good with a T-shirt and jeans.

Frame size and fit

At 49mm per lens, it is on the smaller side, which is ideal if most frames feel too wide. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 114mm.

Not sure about sizing? Compare these numbers with the ones on the inside arm of a pair that fits you well. A difference of two or three millimetres or less usually means a similar fit.

Lens options for the Bell

With a stronger prescription, a thinner high-index lens keeps the edges slim, and an anti-reflective coating cuts reflections from screens and street lights.

What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

A little care goes a long way

Rinse off any grit before you wipe, dry the lenses with a clean microfibre cloth, and take your glasses off with both hands so the arms stay aligned. See our lens care guide for more.

Is it a small frame?

Yes. With 49mm lenses it suits smaller faces.

Can I use the Bell as computer glasses?

Yes. Single vision lenses set to your screen distance, or varifocals if you also need distance vision, both work well for desk work.

Will it suit a narrow nose?

Yes. The 16mm bridge is designed for slimmer noses.

What is havana or tortoiseshell?

A mottled pattern of browns and ambers, a classic eyewear finish.

Who glazes my lenses?

Our own optical lab in the UK. Your lenses are made to your prescription and fitted into the frame before your glasses are sent to you.
