Ayrton Prescription Glasses

A softly squared frame is one of the most versatile shapes around. The Ayrton is a women’s full-rim soft square frame, sized 52-16-140, in Autumn Black, English Mulberry or Pinot Blush. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. It is part of our Walter & Herbert collection.

Choosing your Ayrton colour

Autumn Black. Autumn Black is a good everyday shade. Black suits every hair colour and frames the face with confidence.

English Mulberry. English Mulberry keeps things simple. It adds warmth without being too bright, and it suits most skin tones.

Pinot Blush. Pinot Blush is easy to wear. It keeps the look soft and understated, and it works especially well on fair skin.

Shape and style

The softened corners suit round, oval and heart-shaped faces, adding a little shape without looking severe. A soft colour fade defines the brow line and lets the lower half of the frame melt away.

Because the colour is see-through, the frame has a light, glowing look.

Whether it is your main pair or a spare, the Ayrton is easy to live with.

Styling tips

For work, pair it with a crisp shirt or blazer. At the weekend it looks just as good with a T-shirt and jeans.

How it fits

The 52mm lenses make this a medium frame that suits most faces. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 120mm.

The easiest way to check is against glasses you already love. Most frames show their size inside the arm; if yours are close to these, you are in safe territory.

Lens options for the Ayrton

Your optician’s prescription will usually tell you which of these you need:

• Varifocals if you want to see near and far without swapping glasses.
• Single vision for one task done well, such as driving, reading or screen work.
• Bifocals if you prefer a clearly defined reading area.
• Ready readers for straightforward close-up help.

Want lighter lenses? A high-index lens is thinner than standard plastic. Pair it with an anti-reflective coating for less glare when you drive after dark.

Before you order

Make sure your prescription is in date; most adults in the UK are advised to have an eye test every two years, and your optician will tell you if you need one sooner. You will also need your PD, which tells our lab where to centre the lenses. With those two things ready, ordering takes a few minutes: choose your colour, pick your lenses, enter your details and you are done.

From our lab to you

Your Ayrton is glazed in our UK-based lab. Once you have chosen your lenses and entered your prescription, we cut and fit the lenses and check the finished glasses before they go out.

Looking after them

Use lens spray and a soft cloth, fold the arms before putting your glasses down, and store them in a hard case. Our guide to looking after your lenses covers the rest.

What size is it?

Is the Ayrton comfortable for all-day wear?

Yes. It is a lightweight frame, and a thinner lens for a stronger prescription keeps the weight down even further.

Will it suit a narrow nose?

Yes. The 16mm bridge is designed for slimmer noses.

What does the colour fade look like?

The colour is darker at the top of the frame and becomes lighter towards the bottom.

Do you make the lenses yourselves?

Yes. Every pair is made to order in our UK optical lab, where your lenses are cut to your prescription and fitted into your frame.
