Anning Prescription Glasses

Cat-eye frames manage to look glamorous and practical at the same time. The Anning is a women’s full-rim cat-eye frame, sized 52-16-140, in Berry Burst, Crimson Flame or Grey Smoke. You can order it with single vision, varifocal or bifocal lenses made to your prescription. It belongs to the Walter & Herbert collection.

Choosing your Anning colour

Berry Burst. Berry Burst keeps things simple. It is a gentle way to wear colour every day.

Crimson Flame. Crimson Flame is easy to wear. It looks great with neutral outfits and a bold lip.

Grey Smoke. The Grey Smoke version is grey smoke crystal. It is a quiet, professional finish that works with navy, charcoal and white.

Shape and style

The upswept outer corners suit round, oval and square faces especially well, giving the face a gentle lift. A crystal front looks modern and light, and it goes with everything.

Tortoiseshell arms add warmth and a classic finishing touch.

The Anning is a great everyday frame: smart enough for work and relaxed enough for the weekend.

Wearing it every day

For work, pair it with a crisp shirt or blazer. At the weekend it looks just as good with a T-shirt and jeans.

How it fits

At 52mm per lens, it sits in the medium range, the most common adult fit. The 16mm bridge is on the narrow side. The 140mm arms are a standard length. Across the lenses and bridge it measures about 120mm.

Not sure about sizing? Compare these numbers with the ones on the inside arm of a pair that fits you well. A difference of two or three millimetres or less usually means a similar fit.

Lens options for the Anning

Choose the lens type that suits how you use your glasses:

• Varifocals if you want to see near and far without swapping glasses.
• Single vision for one task done well, such as driving, reading or screen work.
• Bifocals if you prefer a clearly defined reading area.
• Ready readers for straightforward close-up help.

Want lighter lenses? A high-index lens is thinner than standard plastic. Pair it with an anti-reflective coating for less glare when you drive after dark.

What you will need

Have your prescription to hand before you start. It shows the sphere, cylinder and axis for each eye, and sometimes your PD. If the PD is missing, your optician can give it to you. Then choose your colour and lens type, enter your prescription and add any extras, such as thinner lenses or a coating. You can check everything in your basket before you pay.

Keep them looking new

Clean your lenses with a microfibre cloth rather than your jumper, keep them in their case when they are in your bag, and do not leave them on a sunny car dashboard. Our lens care guide has more tips.
